MAHA TET 2026 was originally scheduled for 28 June 2026, but MSCE postponed it a day before the exam after an alleged question paper leak was uncovered in Bhiwandi (Thane district) — three people were arrested and an investigation is underway. Around 4.28 lakh candidates were affected. As of the most recent reports, a revised exam date had not yet been announced. Previously issued admit cards will not be valid once fresh ones are released. Please check mahatet.in directly for the latest status before making any preparation plans.

About MAHA TET
MAHA TET (Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test) is a state-level eligibility exam conducted by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE), Pune, for candidates seeking teaching posts at the primary level (Classes 1–5, Paper 1) and upper primary level (Classes 6–8, Paper 2) in government, aided, and unaided schools across Maharashtra. It's a qualifying exam, not a ranking exam — clearing it earns you a lifetime-valid eligibility certificate, which you then use to apply for actual teacher recruitment.
Unlike some other state TETs, MAHA TET currently has no upper age limit for applicants.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational qualification for Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Age: No upper age limit for MAHA TET.
- Paper 1 (Classes 1–5): Senior Secondary (12th) with at least 50% marks, plus a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), or a 4-year B.El.Ed degree.
- Paper 2 (Classes 6–8): Graduation with roughly 45–50% marks, plus a D.El.Ed or B.Ed qualification.
- Candidates in their final year of the qualifying course (D.El.Ed/B.Ed) are also generally eligible to apply.
- Exact percentage thresholds and category-wise relaxations can vary by notification — confirm against the current official notice.
Exam Pattern
Format for both Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Offline, pen-and-paper, OMR-based, objective-type (MCQ) exam.
- 150 questions, 150 marks, per paper.
- Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes per paper.
- No negative marking.
- Paper 1 and Paper 2 are held on the same day in separate shifts — candidates may appear for either or both.
