About Bihar STET
Bihar STET (Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test) is a state-level eligibility examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) for candidates aspiring to become teachers at the secondary level (Classes 9–10) and higher secondary level (Classes 11–12) in Bihar. It's a Computer Based Test (CBT), multiple-choice exam with no negative marking, and qualifying it — along with the applicable qualifying marks for your category — is required to be eligible for secondary/higher-secondary teacher recruitment in Bihar. The BSEB released the Bihar STET 2026 notification on 14 August 2026, with online applications opening 17 August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
Qualification requirements for Bihar STET 2026, Paper 1 & Paper 2
- Paper 1 (Secondary, Classes 9–10): Graduation/Post-Graduation with the required marks in the relevant subject plus a B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized institution; or Graduation/PG with at least 45% marks along with B.Ed. as per applicable NCTE regulations; or a relevant four-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution. Subject-specific qualification requirements vary — check the official notification for your subject.
- Paper 2 (Higher Secondary, Classes 11–12): Post-Graduation with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject plus B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized institution; or PG with at least 45% marks along with B.Ed. as per NCTE regulations; or a relevant B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. qualification with prescribed marks; or a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. degree with the prescribed qualification.
- Age Limit: Minimum 21 years under the previous STET cycle rules; maximum age varies by category. The final age limit and relaxation rules for 2026 will be confirmed in the official notification.
- Category-wise relaxation: Under the previous rules, SC, ST, EBC, BC and Divyang candidates who are original residents of Bihar received relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks. Exact provisions for STET 2026 will be confirmed officially.
Exam Pattern
Format for both Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Computer Based Test (CBT), objective-type (MCQ) exam.
- Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
- 150 questions per paper, 1 mark each — 150 marks total per paper.
- No negative marking.
- Paper 1 covers eligibility for the Secondary level (Classes 9–10); Paper 2 covers eligibility for the Higher Secondary level (Classes 11–12). Candidates may apply for Paper 1, Paper 2, or both.
