Educational qualifications differ for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
JTET Paper 1 Qualification (Classes 1–5)
Candidates must possess any one of the following:
- Senior Secondary with minimum 50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with minimum 45% marks and D.El.Ed (as per older NCTE norms)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and Diploma in Special Education
- Graduation with D.El.Ed
JTET Paper 2 Qualification (Classes 6–8)
Candidates must possess any one of the following:
- Graduation with D.El.Ed
- Graduation with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed
- Graduation with minimum 45% marks and B.Ed (as per NCTE rules)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and integrated B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed
