JTET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed educational and age criteria to appear for the examination.

Candidates who had applied under Advertisement No. 30/2024 are exempted from paying the fee again, but re-application is mandatory.

JTET Educational Qualification 2026

Educational qualifications differ for Paper 1 and Paper 2.

JTET Paper 1 Qualification (Classes 1–5)

Candidates must possess any one of the following:

  • Senior Secondary with minimum 50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed
  • Senior Secondary with minimum 45% marks and D.El.Ed (as per older NCTE norms)
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and Diploma in Special Education
  • Graduation with D.El.Ed

JTET Paper 2 Qualification (Classes 6–8)

Candidates must possess any one of the following:

  • Graduation with D.El.Ed
  • Graduation with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed
  • Graduation with minimum 45% marks and B.Ed (as per NCTE rules)
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and integrated B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed
  • Graduation with B.Ed (Special Education)
  • Post Graduation with 55% marks and integrated B.Ed-M.Ed

Final Year Candidates

Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying courses are also eligible to apply.
